Disposable sterile lancing device for capillary blood collection
Properties :
Sterile single-use lancing device for collecting capillary blood from the fingertip or, if the patient is a child under 1 year of age, from the heel Components of the single-use lancing device:
Description :
1. Trigger button
2. Body of the lancing device
3. Bit with depth adjustment
4. Sterile needle sleeve
The particular shape and the small diameter of the needle (∅ 0.36 mm, 28 G) are for the patient the assurance of an almost painless blood sample with this
lancing device.
The sterile sleeve guarantees the sterility of the needle.
Directions:
For capillary blood sampling
Usage tips :
Preparing for the blood sample:
Children under 1 year old:
In children under 1 year of age, capillary blood sampling should be done from the heel. Blood sampling is only permitted from the sides of the sole of the foot.
The sample must be taken vertically from the sole of the foot (see the arrows on the enlargement). During collection, the child should be held so that his foot is pointing towards the floor. Do not perform a second puncture at the same puncture site.
To improve blood circulation in the heel before blood collection, warm the heel carefully by wrapping it, for example, in a warm, damp cloth at a temperature of 42°C maximum.
Disinfect the heel, then make sure it is completely dry.
Children aged 1 year or older and adults:
It is recommended to collect capillary blood from the side of the fingertip, as this is where sampling is the least painful. The sample can be taken from any finger of the hand.
The patient’s hands should be washed with warm water and soap, then dried thoroughly. This measure ensures proper hygiene of the sampling site while stimulating blood circulation. If using alcohol wipes, make sure the finger is completely dry before collecting blood.

Removing the Sterile Sleeve:
– Twist the sterile sleeve and remove it.
– Do not use the single-use lancing device if the sterile sleeve has been removed beforehand.
– In extreme cases, the needle protruding from the body of the lancing device can cause serious injury. Dispose of defective single-use lancing devices according to your institution’s regulations.
Adjusting the puncture depth:
– Turn the puncture depth adjustment tip to adjust to the desired puncture depth.
– Do not adjust the depth of the puncture before removing the sterile sleeve.
– To collect capillary blood from the heel of a child less than 1 year old, use only low puncture depth or medium puncture depth. A deep puncture may cause injury to the calcaneus (heel bone).
Blood collection:
– Hold the single-use lancing device between your index finger, middle finger and thumb.
– Firmly press the single-use lancing device onto the chosen sampling site.
– With your thumb, fully press the release button.
– To facilitate the formation of a drop of blood, lightly massage the finger in the direction of the pulp or exert light pressure on the heel.
– In certain diagnostic examinations, it is necessary to avoid massaging or compressing the pulp of the finger or the heel too strongly, as this may cause incorrect results.
– Always dispose of used single-use lancing devices in accordance with the regulations in force in your institution.
Precautions for use:
– To collect capillary blood from the heel of a child less than 1 year old, use only low puncture depth or medium puncture depth.
– A deep puncture may cause injury to the calcaneus (heel bone).
