Benzac is a gel made from benzoyl peroxide, a substance for the topical treatment of acne. Benzac is indicated for the treatment of acne vulgaris (pimples). Benzac should be administered topically; it is used alone or in combination with other anti-acne treatments in all forms of mild to moderate acne. You should contact your doctor if you experience no improvement or feel less well after 4 weeks.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt. First cleanse the skin with a mild, non-irritating soap. Rinse, dry, then apply a thin layer of Benzac Gel 1 to 2 times a day to the areas to be treated. For people with sensitive skin, it is recommended to apply the gel once a day before going to bed. Benzac 5% Gel is mainly used: in early acne, in young subjects with fragile skin, at the start of treatment. In case the result is unsatisfactory and Benzac 5% Gel is well tolerated, Benzac 10% Gel can be used.
