Bowel washing
In adults for washing the bowel before any procedure requiring a clean bowel (example: visual examination of the bowel including endoscopy, radiological examination or surgery).
Not indicated for the treatment of constipation.
Use
Adults
Bowel wash: 2 vials (according to a 1-day or 2-day administration schedule).
To be diluted before administration.
1-day administration schedule:
At the start of the evening of the day before the procedure (e.g. at 6 p.m.):
– Take the first bottle diluted in water up to the mark (approximately 0.5 liter).
– Over the next 2 hours, take 2 additional measuring glasses filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (approximately 1 liter of water).
Approximately 2 hours after the start of the first administration (e.g. at 8 p.m.):
– Pour the contents of the second bottle into the measuring glass supplied and dilute in water up to the mark (approximately 0.5 liter).
– Drink this solution and then 2 additional measuring glasses filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (approximately 1 liter of water) over the next 2 hours.
Administration schedule divided over 2 days:
The day before the procedure (e.g. at 6 p.m.):
– Take the first bottle diluted in water up to the mark (approximately 0.5 liter).
– Over the next 2 hours, take 2 additional measuring glasses filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (approximately 1 liter of water).
On the morning of the procedure (10 to 12 hours after the evening dose):
– Pour the contents of the second bottle into the measuring glass supplied and dilute in water up to the mark (approximately 0.5 liter).
– Drink this solution and then 2 additional measuring glasses filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (approximately 1 liter of water) over the next 2 hours.
Total fluid intake required: about 3 liters.
Clear liquids allowed:
water, tea or coffee (no milk or cream without dairy product), carbonated or non-carbonated sodas, filtered fruit juices without pulp (but which cannot be red or purple in color), a broth clear or a filtered soup without solids.
The day before the procedure:
The patient can eat a light breakfast.
Then he will only take clear liquids for lunch, dinner, and any other meals until the procedure has taken place.
Red or purple liquids, milk and alcoholic beverages will be avoided.
Taking all of the solution must be completed:
in the absence of anesthesia: at least 1 hour before the start of the procedure.
in case of anesthesia: usually at least 2 hours before the start of the procedure.
After the procedure: drink enough fluids to maintain adequate hydration levels.
