Indication
Hyperhomocysteinemia
Treatment of severe hyperhomocysteinaemia since folic acid can decrease the level of homocysteine in the blood.
The usefulness of folic acid in the treatment of moderate hyperhomocysteemia is not proven.

Treatment of macrocytic anemia due to folic acid deficiency until serum levels normalize.
Megaloblastic macrocytic anemias due to folic acid deficiency
Occurring in alcoholics and in states of malnutrition especially in the elderly
Induced by taking certain drugs: certain antiepileptics, oral contraceptives, sulfasalazine, anti-tuberculosis drugs
As a result of malabsorption caused by intestinal disorders
