Difficult awakening for dry eyes
During our sleep, the production of tears stops. Indeed, during the nocturnal recovery phase, but also for example during a state of unconsciousness, no tears are produced. For people who suffer from dry eye surface, waking up can be difficult. The eyelids may stick together and the residue of evaporated tear fluid may form unpleasant crusts. The resulting mechanical friction irritates the cornea and conjunctiva as well as the skin of the eyelids and can cause inflammation in these areas.
